Stor-Age Self Storage, which operates more than 37 locations in South Africa, will be the title sponsor for the Stor-Age Old Boys Tens rugby festival, Nov. 4-5, at the Pirates Sports Club in Johannesburg. The festival is a celebration of the old-school spirit and camaraderie entrenched in school sport, according to a Stor-Age blog.
Now in its third year, the event will feature 25 teams comprising 600 players in at least 60 games. The tournament allows players to renew rivalries from their youth, the blog stated.
“The Stor-Age Old Boys Tens is a truly unique event in that it taps into the rich history of schoolboy rugby in our country and renews rivalries that old boys have not been able to enjoy since days gone by,” said Marcel Malherbe, tournament director. “We cannot wait for this year’s event to kick off, and look forward to going from strength to strength as we continue to develop the tournament and grow the outreach of this nonprofit initiative.”
The festival will include a beer garden, food, a children’s play area, raffles and giveaways. “Stor-Age [is] thrilled to be the title sponsor of the Stor-Age Old Boys Tens and believe that the event is one that not only offers great value as an entertaining rugby spectacle but as a social initiative too,” said Chris Oosthuizen, general manager of sales and marketing for Stor-Age.
Tickets for the tournament are available for purchase via the Stor-Age Old Boys Tens website. All proceeds are contributed toward the development of educational opportunities for the participating schools, the blog stated. Proceed distribution is determined by the teams crowned Cup, Plate, Shield and Bowl champions.
Headquartered in Cape Town, Stor-Age operates facilities in six South African cities. Established in 2006 by the Lucas family, it’s the operator appointed by Stor-Age Property Fund Managers Pty. Ltd. to manage and market the property portfolio owned by Stor-Age Property Holdings Pty. Ltd. In 2015, it became South Africa’s first self-storage real estate investment trust listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
