SafeLease, a provider of self-storage tenant-protection plans and other risk-management products, has established an API (application programming interface) with Cubby self-storage management software. The integration will allow facility operators who use Cubby to maximize participation in their tenant-protection program while ensuring compliance with their insurance-coverage requirements for customers, according to a press release.

“Cubby clients now have turnkey access to SafeLease tenant-protection and insurance services directly within our platform,” said Matt Engfer, cofounder and CEO of Cubby. “This isn't just another insurance integration. It ensures maximum enrollment in a critical revenue stream and automates reporting to SafeLease for expedited billing.”

The partnership allows self-storage operators to boost operational efficiency, reduce manual workload and increase property value, the release stated.

“Softer rental rates and expensive capital means operators must expect more from their vendors,” said SafeLease CEO Steven Stein. “Through this integration, Cubby and SafeLease can offer operators the best tooling to maximize their revenue potential and achieve budget goals.”

In addition to tenant-protection programs, SafeLease offers reinsurance and revenue-management software. Its products have been implemented at more than 1,500 U.S. self-storage facilities. The company is a subsidiary of Etude Capital, which launched a joint venture earlier this year to invest in self-storage in North America.

Cubby software handles self-storage facility management, marketing, pricing and analytics. The platform can be used by single- or multi-site owners at staffed or unattended sites.
