Owners of White Self Storage Open Wales Vacation Park, Create Partnership to Offer Boating on Menai Strait

Husband and wife John and Gina White, founders of White Self Storage in England and Wales, have opened The Straits, a housing complex comprising 32 dwellings on the banks of the Menai Strait in North Wales. They’ve also launched a partnership with RibRide Adventure Tours, a boat-hire company that operates The Marine Club. The arrangement will give Straits residents access to as many as 60 hours of boating and related training, so they can achieve the Royal Yachting Association Level 2 Powerboat Handling qualification, according to sources.

To create their project, the Whites acquired and revamped the former Woodside Caravan Park on Holyhead Road, with support from tourism consultants James McAllister and Becky Williams. The homes start at £198,000.

“John and Gina are so passionate about the area and being part of the community here, it’s an incredible location and one of the country’s hidden gems,” McAllister said. “This is also the only park of its kind on the banks of the Menai Strait, so [lodge] owners are in a unique position and treated to one of the most beautiful, picture-postcard views in the region.”

The partners hope the collaboration will boost local tourism, said Phil Scott, who cofounded RibRide in 2005 with Tom Ashwell. The Marine Club is the only private-members, boat-hire company in Wales, sources reported.

“We take care of the fuel, the cleaning, maintenance, insurance, storage, safety and more, as owning a vessel can be an expensive business,” Scott said. “This makes it a lot simpler and affordable. The connection to the water, to the beaches and nature, is what we and The Straits are all about, and we are excited to build on that relationship in the years ahead.”

White Self Storage operates nine facilities in Cheshire and Manchester, England, as well as North Wales.
