Self-Storage Technology Firm PTI Security Systems Acquires UK-Based DS Security Group

PTI Security Systems, a provider of access-control technologies for the self-storage industry, has acquired U.K.-based distributor and integrator DS Security Group Ltd. The transaction was conducted through PTI’s Sweden-based parent company, Assa Abloy AB. DS Security has been a longtime PTI distributor and integrator in Europe, according to a press release.

“Operating with a direct sales model makes DS Security Group a perfect fit for Assa Abloy,” said Stephanie Ordan, executive vice president and head of global solutions for Assa Abloy. “With this acquisition, we deliver on our strategic objective to expand into new markets for the self-storage business.”

“Bringing DS Security Group on board enables PTI Security Systems to create a strong, direct-to-customer position that creates a more frictionless client experience, particularly as the complexity of storage sites and systems technology become more advanced,” said David Shaw, senior vice president of PTI.

Based in Wimbledon, England, DS Security was founded in 1993 by John D’Aprano.

PTI manufactures technology-enabled security solutions. Its product line includes access-control hardware and software, wired and wireless door alarms, and mobile-access solutions. The company has installed more than 40,000 systems in 30-plus countries.
