Janus International Migrates Nokē Smart-Entry to Amazon Web Services Platform

Janus International Group, a global manufacturer and supplier of building solutions and access-control technology for the self-storage industry, has completed a backend migration of its Nokē smart-entry solutions to Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS). The move will allow Nokē to leverage AWS cloud-computing platforms and Application Programming Interfaces. The platform will also increase the global availability of the Nokē product line and enable over-the-air device management in real time, according to a press release.

“We moved our entire customer base to AWS to take advantage of the stability and functionality of the world’s leading cloud provider,” said Sanjay Khinvasara, executive vice president and chief engineering officer for Nokē. “As part of this transition, we optimized the application code and implemented additional network monitoring and diagnostics. This migration, along with our commitment to future improvements, provides our customers with improved cloud connectivity, performance, operations and quality-assurance benefits.”

The Nokē suite includes smart keypads and locks as well as cloud-based software and a mobile app. As part of the migration process, AWS redesigned the Nokē database structure and made improvements to its coding and architecture, Janus officials said.

AWS is the world’s “most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud,” according to its website. It offers more than 200 services from data centers globally and is used by millions of customers, including startups, large enterprises and government agencies.

Headquartered in Temple, Georgia, and founded in 2002, Janus is a global manufacturer and supplier of turnkey commercial, industrial and self-storage building solutions including roll-up and swing doors, hallway systems, relocatable storage units, and facility- and door-automation technologies. The company operates out of several U.S. locations and seven international offices.
