Man Shoots at Women and Her Children at Frayser, TN, Self-Storage Facility

A man was arrested last week after allegedly shooting at a woman and her two children while they were parked at a Frayser, Tennessee, self-storage facility. The Oct. 20 incident at Extra Space Storage happened around 11 p.m., according to the source.

The victim told police she was visiting 2555 N. Hollywood St. to retrieve items from her storage unit when Kenneth Thomas, 54, approached her vehicle. The suspect asked her why she was at the facility, then began banging on the car window and told her son he was going to kill her. As she drove away from the unit, Thomas fired three shots at her car, hitting the rear bumper and flattening one tire. He then stood in front of the exit gate, preventing her from leaving the property, the source reported.

It's unclear when the victim left the facility or if she knew the assailant. It’s also unknown if Thomas has a connection to the property.

Thomas has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon and vandalism. He was scheduled to appear in court yesterday.

Headquartered in Salt Lake City, Extra Space owns or operates more than 3,650 self-storage facilities nationwide under the Extra Space and Life Storage brand names. The company’s properties comprise approximately 2.5 million units and 278.8 million square feet of rentable space.
