U-Haul Opens Self-Storage Facility in Peachtree City, GA

The U-Haul Co. of Georgia has opened a moving and self-storage facility in Peachtree City, Ga. The property at 375 Highway 74 S. is called U-Haul Moving & Storage of Starrs Mills and is built on 14.12 acres. Its main building, comprising 70,708 square feet, houses a showroom and will eventually include 1,240 storage units. Self-storage availability, propane sales, an updated showroom and additional renovations could be complete by the end of next summer, according to a press release.

A secondary building comprising 44,644 square feet will serve as a warehouse for U-Box portable-storage rentals and other items. The facility is currently offering trailer, truck and U-Box rentals as well as the sale of moving and packing supplies. Services will ramp up during the next year, according to Claudia Campbell, general manager.

"I'm excited about how much this business is needed and the awesome feedback I'm receiving from citizens in the area," Campbell said. "This means convenience. Where people would have traveled more than 10 miles to reach a full-service U-Haul, we are now literally in their backyard. "

A second story is planned for the main building to double the amount of self-storage space available, the release stated. When complete, the facility will feature a 5,000-square-foot showroom, and the warehouse will offer hitch bays and docking.

The acquisition of the property was driven by U-Haul’s corporate sustainability initiatives, which support infill development to help local communities lower their carbon footprint, according to the release. U-Haul’s adaptive reuse of existing structures eliminates the amount of energy and resources required for new-construction materials and helps local cities diminish their unwanted inventory of unused buildings, U-Haul officials said.

Established in 1945, U-Haul International Inc. has more than 44 million square feet of storage space at more than 1,200 owned facilities throughout North America.
