U-Haul Converts Former Employee-Training Center to Self-Storage in Temecula, CA

U-Haul International Inc. is converting the former Center for Employment Training Rancho- Temecula property in Temecula, Calif., to a self-storage facility. Named U-Haul Moving and Storage of Temecula, the property at 27941 Jefferson Ave. is visible from Interstate 15, according to a company press release.

The 5.2-acre property contains a single 38,858-square-foot building that was built in 1970. It currently features a temporary showroom offering cargo vans, and truck and trailer rentals. Plans are underway to add self-storage, U-Box moving and storage containers, propane-tank rentals, custom-hitch installations, trailer wiring, and transmission-cooler installation.

"The city of Temecula has deep historical roots, with the first known settlers dating back to the late 1700s," said Samual Pennock, general manager. "It's a place that appeals to both country folks with its beautiful wine country and horse properties, as well as those who enjoy the newest restaurants or the trendiest shops. Temecula is known for mixing old traditions with new ideas."

The opening of the Temecula store is being driven by U-Haul’s corporate sustainability initiatives, which support infill development to help local communities lower their carbon footprint, according to a company press release. U-Haul’s adaptive reuse of existing structures eliminates the amount of energy and resources required for new-construction materials and helps local cities diminish their unwanted inventory of unused buildings, U-Haul officials said.

Established in 1945, U-Haul International Inc. has more than 40 million square feet of storage space at more than 1,000 owned and managed facilities throughout North America.
