Self-Storage Marketplace SpareFoot to Hire 30 Call-Center Agents, Host Recruiting Event

SpareFoot, an online marketplace for self-storage consumers, will host a “speed dating” event on Feb. 11 at its Austin, Texas, headquarters to recruit 30 call-center agents, known by the company as Amazing Customer Experience (ACE) Team members. The event will be styled after the formalized match-making process by the same name, which encourages individuals to meet several potential matches during a short “meet and greet” period.

The company will host two speed-dating sessions6 to 7:15 p.m. and 7:45 to 9 p.m.—during which time applicants will meet one-on-one with current ACE team members in two- to three-minute intervals.

“The people we are seeking for this role are flexible team players who are highly motivated to help customers,” said Katie Smith, recruiter. “We aren’t looking for any particular past experience. Instead, we’re searching for people with dynamic personalities and a team-first attitude.”

Participants must submit an employment application by Feb. 3 and indicate in their cover letter if they wish to participate in the speed-dating event. Those interested can apply through the “Jobs” page at SpareFoot.com. The company will notify applicants on Feb. 5 if they’ve been selected to attend, according to the source.

Adding 30 ACE members will expand the company’s call-center team to 105 agents. SpareFoot held a similar event last year, which helped the company expand its ACE Team from 58 to 75 members.

ACE members handle self-storage inquiries via phone, e-mail and Web chat, helping customers determine what size storage space they need and rent moving rucks. They also book and manage storage reservations.

Founded in 2008, SpareFoot.com helps consumers find and reserve self-storage units, with comparison shopping tools that show real-time availability and exclusive deals. Since its launch, the company has raised $26 million in venture capital. With a network of more than 7,000 storage facilities ranging from mom-and-pop operations to real estate investment trusts, the company reaches prospective storage renters though partnerships with brands including SelfStorage.com and Penske Truck Rental.
