South Slappey Mini Storage, a self-storage facility in Albany, Ga., received unanimous approval from the Albany Dougherty Planning Commission last week to expand three of its buildings. The project will add 54,000 square feet of storage space in 42 units. The request was approved by a 6-0 vote with no additional discussion.

The project will enable the facility at 1150 S. Slappey Blvd. to use the empty portion of its property, said Todd Lanier, owner of Lanier Engineering Inc., who represented the storage company during the meeting. Incorporated in 1995, Lanier provides civil engineering, land surveying and land-planning services.

The project request was consistent with the county’s future land-use map, said Planning Manager Mary Teter, who also noted the application had been recommended for approval by the planning department.
