Self-Storage Tenant in Florida Upset About Mold in Unit

A woman in Florida is angry after discovering mold covering her belongings in a self-storage unit.

Jennifer Collins and her husband rented a unit at an unnamed facility while preparing to move into a new house. When the couple accessed their unit recently, theu discovered mold growing on the furniture. When Collins approached the self-storage facility’s management to request help, she received a certified letter informing her the facility wasn’t liable for the damage.

The self-storage company’s district manager told WPTV the lease states tenants are responsible for any damage to stored items. Collins did not purchase tenant insurance.

Collins claims her belongings were dry when she moved them into the unit. She said the unit must have a leak.
