Education: It Works Like a Charm!

As the self-storage industry evolves and competition escalates, it’s vital to stay in step with innovations and trends. Luckily, the seminar education, workshops, Q&A sessions and Table Talks at this year’s ISS World Expo are teeming with insight for self-storage professionals of all roles! Consider them your horseshoe of learning.

Workshops. There are nine total workshops taking place at this year’s show, including eight half-day practicums split over April 2 and 5. On Tuesday, attendees can choose from our two Development Workshops (the first focused on project planning and the second on construction), plus the Intensive Legal Workshop hosted by industry attorney Jeff Greenberger and a deep dive Digital Marketing Workshop. The Friday offerings include our two Investing Workshops, the Management Mastery Workshop and the Advanced Operations Workshop.

Also on Friday is the full-day Boat and RV Storage Workshop presented by Toy Storage Nation. Packed with expert insight, this event addresses the topic via multiple angles, from development and construction to risk management to operation and marketing. This event also includes breakfast, lunch and happy hour as well as a facility tour and sponsored table-top exhibits.

Seminars. Our 42-session program on April 3 and 4 includes six comprehensive tracks, including an all-new “Big Picture” track designed to provide a macro view of factors driving self-storage investing, development and operation today. Overtime With the Experts. Back by popular demand, Overtime takes place in tandem with our concurrent seminars. At the conclusion of each 50-minute session, our presenters will convene in a single room where you can meet with them for follow-up conversation. Take advantage of this additional 30 minutes to ask questions, exchange business cards and meet like-minded professionals in your segment of the field.

Table Talks. Also known as roundtable discussions, these are an opportunity to converse with expert hosts and peers on pointed industry topics, organized by theme. Though they can be quite a draw, it’s a slightly more intimate way to share views and ask questions. Most importantly, it’s an excellent way to network and sample information in short, easily digestible bursts.

Self-Storage Q&A Sessions. Open-forum discussion and access to expert knowledge lie at the heart of the ISS World Expo, and this year we’ll be offering four question-and-answer sessions on Thursday, April 4, open to all attendees. From 11 a.m. to noon, choose from three themed meetings: Investing & Development, Management & Marketing and Technology & Security.
