The Beavercreek, Ohio, City Council unanimously voted this week to a temporary ban of new development in several business verticals, including self-storage. The moratorium goes into effect immediately and will last until Nov. 30, according to a source.

The new legislation also applies to carry-out and convenience stores, car washes, grocery stores, restaurants, and warehouses. The city council proposed the pause after Beavercreek residents voiced concerns over the number of existing gas stations in the city and the traffic commercial businesses bring, the source reported.

The decision comes on the heels of a report last month that officials in Brentwood, California, are considering a moratorium on self-storage development. Earlier this year, one was approved in Toledo, Ohio, along with a call for another by the mayor of Yonkers, New York.
