Construction has begun on Airport Deluxe Indoor RV Storage in Tipp City, a suburb of Dayton, Ohio. The property at 11710 Peters Pike, near the Dayton International Airport, will cater to vehicle-storage tenants, with the first of two buildings expected to be complete by November, according to the source. It will offer 30 large units in each building for boats, camper trailers and RVs.
Demand for vehicle storage in on the rise in the area, said Mike Desch, who owns the business with his wife, Nancee. “The camping and RV industry is booming, and the units are getting bigger and more expensive,” he said.
While the area has facilities that offer outdoor storage space, it lacks those that cater to high-end clientele seeking interior vehicle-storage units, Mike Desch said. "The store and lock companies around the area can provide RV storage. There is space available, but inside is very limited.”
Desch plans to eventually build four buildings on the 3-acre property. Each will comprise about 11,000 square feet, with bays measuring 14 to 20 feet wide and 54 feet deep. Heated bays will also be available. While targeted to customers seeking vehicle storage, the units can also be used by businesses or individuals seeking a large unit, Desch said, adding he’s already started a waiting list.
Greenville, Ohio-based Morton Buildings is constructing the facility. The first phase is estimated to cost $900,000 to $1 million, the source reported. Financing was provided by New Carlisle Federal Savings Bank.
