Thieves Strike British Self-Storage Facility

A self-storage facility near Coltersworth, a small city in east central England, fell victim to thieves who stole jewelry and electrical items from about 40 shipping containers on March 19.

Representatives from U Hold the Key storage facility on A1 highway northbound notified police after realizing someone had cut a hole in a fence to enter the property and used bolt-cutters to break into locked storage spaces. One of the tenants estimates he lost "a few grand" worth of belongings. Police are still collecting evidence and looking for suspects.

Started in 2000, U Hold the Key is a large British self-storage operator also selling moving services. Its Coltersworth facility is about 30 miles northeast of Leicester and 100 miles north of London.
