Armadillo Self Storage and Big Yellow Self Storage of Sheffield, England, both members of the Big Yellow Group PLC family of properties, are providing free storage space to the local chapter of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA), a charity that promotes animal welfare in England and Wales. RSCPCA will use two units totaling 350 square feet at 8 Parkway Ave. and 718 Penistone Road to store equipment and stock for its charity shops, according to the source.

RSPCA Sheffield recently launched an urgent appeal for assistance from corporate partnerships, as it expects an increase in need for services during the holidays. Based in the Attercliffe suburb of Sheffield, the branch includes the Sheffield Animal Centre, which rehabilitates and rehomes cats and dogs; a veterinary clinic for center animals; and various charity shops, which provide a source of income to the organization. The animal center relies solely on donations and volunteers to operate.

“Corporate sponsorships are vital for our animal center, as we have to generate all of our own operating costs; so any extra help goes a long way,” said Diana Radford, operations director for RSPCA Sheffield. “Big Yellow Self Storage in Sheffield is just one of the many great local businesses that support us. In Big Yellow Self Storage’s case, offering us two free units to keep our stock in freed up money that would have otherwise had to go on rent. Instead, this money can go toward the animals in the center.”

“We’re all huge animal lovers across the four stores that Big Yellow Group has across Sheffield, so to be able to help out the RSPCA Sheffield center by gifting them two free units was something we were more than happy to do,” said Sarah Travis and Ed Taylor, property managers for the two storage facilities. “We think it’s really important that local business support charities in their regions—a small act of kindness can go a long way.”

Big Yellow operates 99 self-storage locations in the United Kingdom under the Big Yellow Self Storage and Armadillo Self Storage brand names, with most concentrated in Greater London and Southeast England. Its total portfolio comprises 5.7 million square feet.
