In an effort to aid workers and affected families of the Southern California wildfires, several local self-storage facilities have formed the SoCal Storage Relief Alliance to give victims a safe place to store their belongings while rebuilding their homes and businesses. Ogden, Utah-based Storage Marketing Solutions (SMS), a provider of marketing consultation and services to the self-storage industry, initiated the alliance by uniting its SoCal-based clients in the endeavor.
 
Participating facilities are offering two full months of free storage to anybody in the area affected directly or indirectly by the fires, including homeowners, renters, business owners and aid workers.
 
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of the Southern California wildfires, said Greg Houge, president of Storage, Etc., which operates multiple facilities throughout Southern California. We were fortunate that our business was not destroyed, and we're offering two months of free rent on storage space to those who have been displaced."
 
"Storage Valet stands ready to distribute it's mobile-storage containers throughout it's coverage area (including Orange County, the Inland Empire and parts of LA County) to help all of those afflicted by the fires, said company operator Alex Rosenberg. This includes victims of the fire, donation/collection sites and assistance centers."
