SteelBlue Building Components LLC, a manufacturer of roll-up doors and hallway systems for the self-storage industry, has announced new product offerings and the hiring of Thomas Vaughn as general manager of operations. The news was distributed through the company’s May 7 newsletter.

SteelBlue officially introduced its 9530 Series roll-up door, with panels that are seamed together. Designed for easy installation and operation due to its shorter door guide as well as wear strips, symmetrical headstop and round drum, the product has a tensioning device that requires no special tools. Available in a variety of colors, the product comes in the industry standard profile of 26-gauge, grade-80, pre-painted steel with a maximum opening of 10-by-10 feet.

In addition, SteelBlue’s product-development and manufacturing teams are working on a new door that measures 14 feet wide by 14 feet high, designed for vehicle-storage units. The company is also enhancing its online customer portal, which should be available soon.

Vaughn has more than 20 years of manufacturing experience. “His expertise will be crucial as we commission three new pieces of roll-form equipment, which will vastly improve our lead times, consistency in our products, and add new capacity to keep pace with our ever-growing company,” wrote Rich Saginaw, CEO and president.

SteelBlue was founded in 2021 a group of self-storage veterans. It’s headquartered in Pittsburgh, with its manufacturing plant in Frankfort, Kentucky.
