Stora, a Belfast, Ireland-based provider of self-storage management software, released a “U.K. Self Storage Industry Insights 2024” report based on data collected from hundreds of industry operators who use its product. The company claims its sample represents nearly 20% of all facilities in the United Kingdom, according to CEO and founder Gavin Shields.

The report reveals:

  • How U.K. self-storage operators performed in 2024

  • The top sources of customers

  • How customers booked and paid for storage rentals

  • Pricing and payment trends

  • Occupancy performance

  • Online-booking insights

  • The most common discounts offered

  • Recurring revenue sources

Among the publication’s notable findings was an increase in self-storage customers who rent online, which jumped from 62% in 2023 to 70% in 2024 for operators who listed prices on their website. The report also reported growth in occupancy rates among larger, more expensive units.

The full report can be downloaded from stora.co.

“Our mission at Stora is to help our customers to build the best self-storage businesses,” Shields said in a YouTube video about the release. “We hope this report will help you make better, data-based decisions that will grow your business.”

Stora offers a self-storage management and automation platform, with customers in Europe, the U.K. and the U.S. Shields also owns StoreStuff, which operates self-storage facilities in Dungannon and Portadown, Northern Ireland.
