Self-Storage Veteran Stacie Maxwell to Join On The Move as Director of Insurance

Self-storage veteran Stacie Maxwell will be starting a new position at the end of next week as director of insurance for On The Move Inc., a provider of branded moving trucks as well as tenant-protection programs and property-casualty insurance. She’s completing an impressive 23-year tenure with consulting and management firm Universal Storage Group, where she served as vice president of marketing and training.

In her new role, Maxwell will be responsible for providing marketing and training programs for On The Move Insurance Agency, a subsidiary of the parent company. She’ll continue to attend industry tradeshows, contribute to publications such as Inside Self-Storage (ISS), and speak at meetings and conferences like the ISS World Expo. Maxwell will also continue to serve on the advisory board of the Self-Storage Association Women’s Council, according to a press release.

“This transition has rejuvenated my love for the self-storage industry, and I am excited to dig in and help On The Move Insurance Agency reach new heights with their SecureLease [insurance] program,” Maxwell said.

During her time at USG, Maxwell oversaw marketing for a portfolio of more than 70 self-storage facilities. She also guided manager training for the company’s 100-plus employees. Her contributions were pivotal in helping the firm achieve 13 “Facility of the Year” awards and 11 Inside Self Storage “Best of Business” awards, the release stated.

Founded in 1992, On The Move serves multiple industries with customized trucks and rental-truck insurance. On The Move Insurance offers property and casualty insurance, a tenant-protection program called SecureLease, and SecureOutdoor, which insures outdoor vehicle storage.

Atlanta-based USG was formerly known as Universal Management Co., which was founded in 1993 and changed its name in 2012. The company offers self-storage consulting, feasibility studies, staff training and third-party management in 17 states.
