MakoRabco, a nationwide supplier of buildings and construction-related services for the self-storage and boat/RV-storage industries, announced that executive vice president Emmett “Buster” Owens will retire this year. He’ll continue to be an advisor to the company, according to a press release.
Owens has more than three decades of self-storage experience. He began his career as a civil engineer for Professional Engineering Consultants, then joined the storage industry in 1987 with Design Build Manufacturing Inc. In 1989, he was hired at Rabco Enterprises, an Orlando, Florida-based metal-building supplier founded by Larry Cox and Ron Raboud in 1987, as director of marketing and sales. In 2009, Owens became president of the company.
Following the acquisition of Rabco by Mako Steel Inc. in 2021, Owens held a key leadership position in merging the two companies.
“Buster has had such an important impact on the self-storage industry and on our company,” said MakoRabco CEO Jim Reinhart. “On behalf of everyone at MakoRabco, I extend our deepest gratitude to Buster for his unparalleled service and wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement later this year.”
MakoRabco specializes in building design, supply and installation. The company has constructed more than 4,000 self-storage facilities nationwide. It operates from offices in Carlsbad, California, and Winter Garden, Florida.
