Storage Authority LLC, which operates self-storage facilities in two states and has 31 franchises nationwide, has promoted Kevin Harless to director of development from his previous position as franchise director. In his new role, he’ll be responsible for guiding new franchise owners through the development process, according to a press release.

Harless has more than 15 years of self-storage industry experience in development, technology and property acquisitions. Prior to joining Storage Authority, he served as marketing-company president for U-Haul International for 12 years.

Harless began his career in retail, managing large teams at Circuit City Corp., where he was a store director, area manager and grand-opening consultant. After Circuit City shuttered, he joined U-Haul as an area-field manager and was later promoted to marketing-company president of U-Haul Co. of North Texas. In this position, he was responsible for company growth as well as assisting with acquisitions and development.

“Kevin’s over 15 years of experience at U-Haul and [in] self-storage consulting brings incredible value to our franchisees,” said Marc Goodin, president of Storage Authority.

Founded in 2016, Sarasota, Florida-based Storage Authority was cofounded by Goodin and Scott House. Its franchise model offers existing self-storage owners and those looking to enter the industry the chance to build a business under the brand’s operational framework. The company also offers consulting services and facility-manager training.
