MakoRabco, a nationwide supplier of buildings and construction-related services for the self-storage and boat/RV-storage industries, announced that regional sales manager Tom Esquibel has retired, effective July 1. He’ll continue with the company as a consultant to help sales managers Chad Gattis and Jeff Michaels, who have taken over his Southeast territory, according to a press release.

Esquibel has 30 years of self-storage experience, the last five of which were with MakoRabco. He began his industry career in 1994 as an outside sales representative for steel door and hallway manufacturer DBCI. He later founded steel-building company Diamondback Metal Systems. In 2019, he joined Rabco Enterprises as regional sale manager for the Southeast. That company merged with Mako Steel Inc. in 2022.

Esquibel played a pivotal role in the development of numerous self-storage facilities, the release stated.

“Tom’s dedication, unwavering commitment and significant contributions to both our company and the self-storage community have been nothing short of exemplary,” said Angie Guerin, executive vice president for MakoRabco. “As Tom embarks on his well-deserved retirement, we hope he continues to share his vast knowledge and expertise with the industry.”

Founded in 1993, MakoRabco specializes in self-storage building design, supply and installation. It operates from offices in Carlsbad, California, and Winter Garden, Florida.
