Johnson Insurance Hires Self-Storage Veteran Terry Campbell as Commercial-Insurance Specialist
September 17, 2024
Self-storage industry veteran Terry Campbell has accepted a position as commercial-insurance specialist with Johnson Insurance after a brief retirement-turned-sabbatical. He’ll focus on insurance and risk management for facility owners, according to a press release.
Campbell has been in the storage business for nearly 30 years, the first 20 of which were spent with BETCO Inc., where he focused on facility construction. He launched the self-storage lending division at Live Oak Bank in 2015, then joined Copper Storage Management (CSM), a third-party management company that specializes in automated facility operation, in 2022. He announced his retirement in January, though he stayed on with CSM as part owner and advisor.
“Our business strategy is simple: Hire well-respected professionals with deep industry knowledge and an innate desire to help others; invest in our team’s education and career development; and implement tools and processes that make doing business with us as simple as possible,” said Jessica Yarbrough, Johnson’s co-owner and chief operating officer. “When we got to know Terry and saw his passion for helping others by sharing his knowledge and connections in the self-storage industry, we knew he was exactly the person we wanted representing us.”
“Johnson Insurance Services is in my hometown, and we all just fit together. There are a lot of long-time acquaintances and friendships there, and I hope to help them build this division while helping self-storage owners with their insurance needs,” Campbell said.
Based in Mocksville, North Carolina, Johnson has been in business for more than 100 years. The independent agency provides insurance for an array of business types including agriculture, golf courses, self-storage and wineries. It also offers personal policies for homes, travel and vehicles.
