Jackson is the capital and most populous city in Mississippi. The Jackson metropolitan statistical area (MSA) includes Copiah, Hinds, Madison, Rankin and Simpson counties. Jackson is home to several major industries: electrical equipment and machinery, processed food, and primary and fabricated metal products. The surrounding area supports agricultural development of livestock, soybeans, cotton and poultry.
