Kraig and Susan Haviland, the owners of self-storage management firm Haviland Storage Services (HSS), have hired their daughter, Kylie Haviland-Smith, as director of human resources and marketing. As part of this role, she’ll focus on social media management, according to a press release.

Haviland-Smith has a diverse background, having earned two bachelor's degrees from Butler University, one in biology and the other in nursing. She was also a Division I tennis player for the school. After graduation, she became a nurse, working in intensive care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Her creative approach coupled with a strong work ethic makes her an invaluable asset to the team,” the release stated. “As a recent new mom, Kylie deeply values the importance of family, and she’s excited to contribute to the family business that has been a part of her life since childhood. Growing up with her parents ‘talking shop’ around the dinner table, Kylie is no stranger to the storage industry.” Founded in 2002, HSS provides consulting, facility audits, market studies and manager training among other support services for self-storage operations. Based in San Diego, the company also has offices in Santee, California, and Charlotte, North Carolina.
