Self-storage brokerage EquiCap Commercial hired industry veteran Anne (Williams) Blackwell as a partner and broker. She’ll focus on self-storage investment sales and advisory services in the Southeast, working from the company’s new Memphis, Tennessee, office, according to a press release.

Blackwell has 24 years of experience in self-storage acquisitions and dispositions, capital markets, economic trends, market conditions, and facility operation. She’s brokered more than 150 transactions valued at $500 million. Blackwell began her career at Storage USA, which was later acquired by self-storage real estate investment trust Extra Space Storage Inc. She began on the acquisitions team, then moved to operations, where she managed a 15-property portfolio. In 2006, she joined real estate firm Marcus & Millichap and opened its Memphis office.

Blackwell is a member of the Tennessee Self Storage Association and has served on its board since 2007. She’s also a member of the Louisiana Self Storage Association, Mississippi Self Storage Owners Association and national Self Storage Association.

Founded in 2006 by Jesse Luke and Scott Rihm, Saint Charles, Illinois-based EquiCap is a real estate brokerage and investment firm that specializes in self-storage, primarily in the Midwest and Midsouth.
