DoorBill, a provider of billing and smart-access solutions designed to streamline property management, has partnered with global security company Master Lock Co. LLC to create a customizable mobile app for self-storage operations that combines billing with unit access. The scalable tool can be used for an unlimited number of locations and units, all from a centralized platform, according to a press release.

Facility operators can use DoorBill to manage and monitor site permissions, which can be shared temporarily or permanently. They can also automate rent collection and communicate with customers via an integrated messaging system. Tenants get electronic unit access via their smartphones and the Master Lock Bluetooth Padlock.

DoorBill aims to help landlords simplify billing as well as building access for co-working spaces, hotels, multi-family properties, offices and self-storage facilities. The company’s platform combines smart-lock technology with software for “seamless operation, enhanced security and easy rent collection,” according to its website.

Master Lock develops padlocks, combination locks, safes and related security products. Formed in 1921 by locksmith-inventor Harry E. Soref, it’s headquartered in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. It’s a subsidiary of Fortune Brands Innovations.
