Federal incentives for installing solar-energy systems are slated to decrease at the end of the year, spurring self-storage companies like Deer Creek Mini Storage in Cabot, Ark., to action. The facility installed 80 solar panels on its rooftops in June. The system is expected to save the business $140,000 in energy costs over 30 years. To defray costs, Deer Creek owners took advantage of several funding and government tax incentives. Other storage operators who want to enjoy similar savings need to act before the Investment Tax Credit begins its annual decline in 2020.
