Industry data repeatedly shows that women make up a significant portion of the self-storage renter base and are the primary decision-makers when it comes to choosing a facility. We also know that female customers prioritize security, cleanliness and curb appeal in a storage business. They want to feel safe and comfortable where they keep their belongings. But in some foreign markets where self-storage is just emerging and not as sophisticated as in the U.S., these conditions aren’t always present. For example, when Manjali Khosla went looking for storage in India, she couldn’t find the experience she wanted. This is what led her to found Self Storage India, which already operates four facilities and is actively expanding with six more. In this video, she explains the challenges she faced in establishing her business, how she overcame them and how her operation caters to women renters.
