When you’re building a new self-storage facility or expanding an existing property, one of the most critical elements is the foundational site work—prepping the land for construction. Inadequate groundwork at the start of a project can lead to problems down the line. This is what self-storage owners Jermaine and Faith Hill learned the hard way when they hired a company to install gravel at their facility in Lanett, Alabama. The initial job was subpar and had to be redone. In this video, Jermaine explains what went wrong, why it mattered, how they fixed it and three lessons they took away from the experience.
