Onity, a provider of electronic-access products and mobile credentials for self-storage and other industries, has launched Passport Locking Solution, which includes a smart lock, mobile app, cloud-based management system, Internet of Things network, and connections to other approved devices. The new product will be featured in the company’s booth at the Inside Self-Storage World Expo in Las Vegas, April 11-14, according to a press release.
“Onity is excited to expand its leading-edge, mobile-credentialing technology, which has opened doors over 250 million times since 2015, and electronic-lock expertise into the self-storage segment,” said company president Fayyad Sbaihat. “Thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of self-storage facilities and tenants, the Passport Locking Solution offers a compact lock combined with our leading-edge DirectKey technology and cloud-based system to deliver a secure and reliable ecosystem.”
Passport can be retrofitted to most existing unit doors. It allows facility operators to grant and revoke access to self-storage units, monitor activity, and virtually oversee facility operation. Users can also receive real-time and periodic notifications for actionable insights, the release stated.
Self-storage tenants can open their units using the Passport mobile app, eliminating the need for physical locks that require keys or code combinations. They can also grant or revoke access to friends, family or business associates.
“The Passport Locking Solution is a game-changer in the self-storage industry,” said André LaLande, vice president of sales. “We’re thrilled to introduce a solution that will make the tenant experience more convenient while also providing greater security and efficiency for facility operators.”
Founded in 1986, Onity also serves the commercial, education and military industries. It’s part of Carrier Global Corp., a provider of healthy, safe, sustainable and intelligent building and cold-chain solutions.
