JLL Valuation & Advisory Services, which invests in a variety of assets including self-storage, hired Tom Kim as managing director for its Chicago office. He’ll expand operations into the Midwest as part of the company’s national growth strategy. His focus will include driving growth within the market, mentoring and recruiting team members, and fostering an inclusive culture that encourages collaboration within JLL’s valuation advisory group and other service lines, according to a press release.

Kim was formerly senior vice president of real estate firm CB Richard Ellis, where he served as the industrial and self-storage practice leader for its Chicago office. Since 2006, he has honed his expertise in valuation for a range of asset classes, the release stated.

“Tom coming aboard and leading our Chicago office is going to help propel our Midwest operations to new levels and be a valuable contribution to our overall national growth strategy,” said Tony Lenamon, head of valuation advisory for North America. “A proven leader, his experience in spearheading and growing an office is priceless, and we are excited to welcome him to the team.”

Joe Miller, who previously served in Kim’s position, will now lead JLL’s retail sector nationally.

JLL buys, builds, occupies and invests in the commercial, hotel, industrial, retail, residential and self-storage sectors. It employs more than 1,700 valuation specialists worldwide.
