Police have arrested a man for alleged sexual abuse of a self-storage manager in Miami Gardens, Florida. The incident happened on June 20 at a US Storage Centers facility, according to the source.

David Joseph, 35, a former tenant of the facility at 2765 N.W. 207th St., asked the victim to show him a unit at around 3 p.m. When they stepped on the elevator, he attempted to kiss the woman, who backed away from him. After arriving at the unit, Joseph grabbed her arm and pulled her inside. He then forcibly pulled down her pants and touched her privates. The woman yelled and pointed to the security cameras, which made him stop. She remained calm as they exited the space, the release stated.

“The victim stated that she placed her arm out in front of her to create distance between them and walked that way onto the elevator and off the elevator until they got on the golf cart to head back to the office,” according to the police statement. She called authorities after the attack, saying “a customer tried to rape her inside one of the storage units.” She later provided a sworn statement to police.

Joseph was arrested during a traffic stop on Oct. 4. He reportedly lives just a few blocks northeast of the storage facility. He’s being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $50,000 bond and faces a charge of sexual battery, the source reported.

US Storage Centers is the operating brand for Westport Properties Inc., which develops, acquires and manages its own portfolio and provides third-party management services. The company operates more than 200 facilities nationwide.
