Nearly 100,000 people across the globe have been infected with the novel coronavirus (also known as COVID-19), and more than 3,000 have died. First identified in December in Wuhan, China, the virus spreads primarily through person-to-person contact, but also by touching something an infected person has handled. Health officials are encouraging everyone to take precautions to lessen their chance of illness.
