An affiliate of Extra Space Storage Inc., a publicly traded self-storage real estate investment trust (REIT) and third-party management firm, has purchased a self-storage facility in Jacksonville, Fla., for $9 million. Extra Space Properties Two LLC acquired the property at 100 Girvin Road from Girvin Investments LLC. The facility was previously branded as Uncle Bob’s Self Storage, the operating name for REIT Sovran Self Storage Inc.

Extra Space Properties Two LLC acquired the property at 100 Girvin Road from Girvin Investments LLC. The facility was previously branded as Uncle Bob’s Self Storage, the operating name for REIT Sovran Self Storage Inc.

The 113,000-square-foote property is just off Atlantic Boulevard. Bruce Weiner of Sandy Springs, Ga., was listed as the manager, according to the source. The property last sold in 2007 for $1.1 million.

Headquartered in Salt Lake City, Extra Space owns or operates 1,335 self-storage properties in 36 states; Washington, D.C.; and Puerto Rico. The company’s properties comprise approximately 885,000 units and 99.8 million square feet of rentable space.

Sovran operates more than 500 self-storage facilities in 25 states, with a large presence in Texas. Its portfolio of owned and managed facilities comprises more than 36 million square feet.
