The Investment Real Estate Group of Companies (IREGC), which specializes in self-storage brokerage, construction and management, has hired two new team members. Wesley Benfer has joined the company as acquisitions broker, while Daniel VonBussenuis is the new project manager.
Benfer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating and prospecting self-storage acquisitions. He served in the U.S. Navy for five years and received multiple awards for his service. Upon completing his military duty, he continued his education at the University of North Carolina, where he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and graduated Summa Cum Laude. His studies included land-use planning, rezoning and negotiations with city staff. As a graduate student, Benfer was accepted to a program that highlighted real estate finance and development, and he’s proficient in site feasibility and financial analysis.
Prior to joining IREGC, Benfer served as a land-acquisition project manager for a national homebuilder in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he evaluated site feasibility and produced offers to local landowners. He resides in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, with his fiancé, Amanda.
“Wesley is a great choice for our acquisitions broker. His extensive knowledge and can-do attitude are an asset. He remains calm during intense situations, and strives to go above and beyond in everything he completes,” said John Gilliland, CEO and president.
VonBussenuis will be responsible for planning and overseeing projects, predicting and managing the resources necessary to reach objectives, and providing updates about project strategy, adjustments and progress. In addition, he’ll manage contracts with vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables. He’ll also measure project performance to identify areas for improvement.
VonBussenuis has more than 15 years of commercial construction experience, including five in residential and two in lending. He earned a bachelor’s degree in film and television, and lives in York, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Alyssa, and daughter, Peyton. The couple is expecting a son, Thaddeus, in early 2022.
“Daniel has the perfect personality and drive for the role he has filled. His experience is an excellent asset to our team. He strives to go above and beyond, and I am grateful to have him on my team,” said Glen Iley, director of development and construction.
Founded in 1998, IREGC also includes IRE LLC, the company’s brokerage division; IRE Management LLC, its management arm; and IRE Construction LLC, which handles self-storage facility design, permitting and construction.
