Georgia Self Storage Association Announces Manager of the Year

The Georgia Self Storage Association (GASSA) has named Donna Johnson, facility manager for Boardwalk Storage in Loganville, Georgia, as its 2021 “Manager of the Year.” The award is given following a state-wide nomination process, according to a press release from Boardwalk Development Group (BDG), which owns, manages and develops self-storage in the Southeast.

Johnson joined BDG in August 2019. Though she had no prior self-storage experience, she was willing to learn and take on challenges. She has excelled in her position, providing excellent customer service and building connections in the community, the release stated.

“We are extremely proud of Donna and the recognition this award gives to her abilities. Boardwalk has been fortunate to find and hire some of the best talent and most highly awarded managers in the self-storage industry,” BDG stated in the release.

Founded in 2016 by Raj Sheth, BDG owns 15 facilities in Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee. The company recently launched its fourth investment fund, Boardwalk Storage Fund IV.

Founded in 1992, GASSA is a nonprofit organization for self-storage professionals in the state of Georgia. Its 300 members include owners, managers, management companies, vendors and suppliers representing more than 800 facilities.
