Real estate developer The Berry Cos. LLC has submitted a rezoning application for a 0.8-acre parcel on Johnston Road in Charlotte, N.C. The company has planned a mixed-use project featuring up to 100,000 square feet of self-storage, a 1,000-square-foot office and at least 4,000 square feet of retail space, according to the source. The Charlotte City Council is scheduled to review the zoning request tonight, along with applications for several other projects.

The proposed building site is between Pineville-Matthews Road and Walsh Boulevard. The zoning committee voted 5-1 to recommend the project, indicating it’s compatible with other uses in the district, including a parking deck behind the property, the source reported.

The Berry Cos. has self-storage projects under development in Fort Mill and Greenville, S.C., according to its website. The company specializes in commercial and residential projects, including mixed-use, multi-family, retail and single-family developments.
