A new, 23,000-square-foot self-storage facility has opened at Warehouse 6, Street 18, Al Quoz 1 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). It’s the first facility operated by Extraspace Self Storage, which is unrelated to the U.S. self-storage real estate investment trust or the Asia self-storage operator of a similar name. The business serves commercial and residential customers, offering moving services, document storage and other amenities including climate control, onsite security guards, 24/7 video monitoring, individual door alarms and pest control, according to the company website.

Extraspace is fully approved by the Dubai Civil Defense, Dubai Municipality and Dubai Police, the website states.

“The UAE is a global hub for highly mobile professionals and fast-growing businesses, which makes it an excellent market for world-class storage facilities like Extraspace Self Storage,” Ayman Chihabi, CEO, told the source. “Today in Dubai, personal warehousing and storage facilities are scarce or fully booked, and you will find a huge variance in quality of service. Therefore there is a huge unmet need in Dubai for self-storage services.”

The company is also committed to safeguarding the environment, using LED lights and a climate-control system designed to reduce power consumption by approximately 80 percent, according to the website. The Breezair Cooling System positively pressurizes the building, keeping out bugs and dust. Extraspace also supports recycling throughout the business.

In addition to offering steep discounts on long-term leases, the company’s marketing launch includes a service listing on MoveSouq.com, a Dubai-based website that connects residents with moving and storage services in the UAE.
