Registration is now open for the Inside Self-Storage (ISS) Roadshow, a new industry event taking place Nov. 29 at the Irving Convention Center in Irving, Texas, just minutes from Dallas. In addition to two full-day workshops, attendees will have access to table-top exhibits by 10 of the sector’s top vendors. They’ll also enjoy breakfast, lunch and a happy hour as well as several other perks, including a free digital copy of the 2023 “ISS Building/Investing Guidebook.”
The Development Workshop, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., will be moderated by Jamie Lindau, self-storage product manager for Trachte Building Systems, with contributions from other industry experts. The session will address national statistics and trends, feasibility and site selection, team assembly, site design, the zoning and approvals process, traditional and multi-story construction, conversions, and facility renovations and expansions.
The Legal and Operations Workshop, also 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., will be hosted by Rick Beal and Magen Smith, cofounders of Atomic Storage Group; and Jeffrey Greenberger, a partner with Greenberger & Brewer LLP. In the morning, participants will delve into advanced facility operation, including critical topics such as policies and procedures, staffing, site auditing, revenue management, and much more. This information will be followed by four hours of legal guidance, with a particular emphasis on the rental agreement and tenant defaults, plus terminology that can expose a self-storage business to liability.
The official hotel of the ISS Roadshow is the Texican Court at 501 W. Las Colinas Blvd. Reservations can be made at www.texicancourt.com or by calling 833.839.4226. A special rate of $159 per night, plus taxes, is available through Oct. 31 and applicable to stays that take place on Tuesday, Nov. 28, and Wednesday, Nov. 29.
The Irving Convention Center at 500 W. Las Colinas Blvd. is an eight-minute drive from Dallas Fort Worth International airport.
