Summer has arrived, and with it comes extreme temps in many regions—even those that don’t expect it. The Climate Prediction Center declared most U.S. regions will experience above-normal temperatures this year, and that kind of heat can not only impact your self-storage employees and tenants but your grounds and equipment, too. People can suffer heat stroke, exhaustion and dehydration, while blackouts can threaten your cooling and other office systems, including rentals and security. It’s more than a few cold bottles of water can handle, so what’s your business plan?

Luckily, you can get and share advice on the Self-Storage Talk online community. There members are sharing their anxieties and tactics around what’s sure to be one scorcher of a summer. Jump into the discussion thread for tips on power failures, health and safety protocols, and more.
