North Attleboro, MA, Considers Ban on Self-Storage Development

The town of North Attleboro, Massachusetts, is considering a change to its zoning that would prohibit future self-storage development. The council’s economic-development subcommittee will present a proposed amendment at a meeting on Monday, according to the source.

The planning board initiated the change to the town’s zoning bylaws this summer. They argued that storage facilities consume large development parcels but don’t offer jobs or a substantial amount of taxes.

There are currently four self-storage facilities in North Attleboro, including a conversion project near the center of town. The bylaw wouldn’t affect existing properties, according to the source.
