Benton, AR, Officials Enact One-Year Moratorium on Self-Storage Development

The Benton, Arkansas, City Council approved a one-year moratorium on self-storage development. The ordinance passed with an emergency clause, putting it into effect immediately, according to the source.

City officials had discussed the measure for more than a year before presenting it to the council. While it is in effect, they won’t accept, review or process any applications or site plans, or take any action on proposed storage projects. Existing facilities won’t be effected, nor will one application that has already been approved, the source reported.
