RedBox Storage Ltd., which operates six self-storage facilities in Hong Kong, has appointed Benny Chung as CEO, effective Jan. 1. He replaces Michael Cocozzo, who was serving as interim CEO, according to a press release.
Chung joins RedBox with extensive experience in the corporate and investment sectors. Most recently, he served as group head of investment at JustCo Group, which provides coworking spaces. While there, he led initiatives that advanced corporate development and asset-management strategies across the Asia-Pacific region.
Previously, Chung held various leadership roles at Shangri-La Group, which operates a global portfolio of hotels and resorts, overseeing more than HK$25 billion in assets and managing a portfolio of more than 15 properties in South China. He also served as chief of staff at CapitaLand, a global real estate investment firm, where he played a key role in corporate planning and the operations of CapitaMalls, which had a market capitalization of $7 billion, the release stated.
“RedBox aims to be the leading self-storage operator in Hong Kong, and we see significant opportunities for further growth,” Cocozzo said. “With his extensive expertise in investment and asset management, Mr. Chung is well-positioned to drive RedBox’s strategy and innovation in a competitive market. We look forward to collaborating with him as he leads the company through the next phase of development.”
“I am honored by the opportunity to lead RedBox Storage,” Chung said. “Delivering high-quality customer experiences and innovative solutions is key to achieving success in the dynamic business environment of 2025 and beyond. Together with our talented team, I believe we can deliver exceptional value to our customers and maintain our reputation for reliability and excellence.”
Established in 2007, RedBox operates self-storage locations in Sai Wan, Shatin, Tsuen Wan and Yau Tong. It was acquired by global investment firm Brookfield Asset Management in 2022.
