CEO of AC Self Storage Solutions Wins U.S. House of Representatives Seat in Montana

Troy Downing, CEO and cofounder of real estate investment firm AC Self Storage Solutions LLC, won a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives for Montana’s Second Congressional District. He’ll represent the eastern part of the state, including Billings, Great Falls and Helena, according to sources.

Downing defeated Democratic candidate John Driscoll, who didn’t report raising or spending any money on his campaign. The seat was left open after Republican Matt Rosendale declined to seek a second term.

Prior to his election, Downing was Montana’s state auditor and its commissioner of securities and insurance. He served two tours of duty in Afghanistan in a combat search-and-rescue squadron while with the U.S. Air Force/Air National Guard for eight years, the sources reported.

“My motivation to seek a seat in the U.S. House [stemmed] from a deep-seated desire to serve my fellow Montanans and address the issues that matter most to them. My formative years growing up in a lower-middle class family and having the opportunity to build my ‘American Dream’ taught me this country is special and worth fighting for,” Downing said. “My time serving in the U.S. Air Force profoundly shaped my perspective. It instilled in me a sense of duty, sacrifice and a commitment to protecting and serving others. This experience reinforced my belief in the importance of effective leadership and inspired me to continue my service in a different capacity—as a representative in Congress.”

Founded in 2010, AC Self Storage has offices in Carlsbad and Newport Beach, Calif., and operates 15 facilities in California, Colorado, Georgia, Nevada, Tennessee and Texas.
