UK Storage Co. Ltd., which operates seven self-storage facilities in England, has opened a new property in Swindon, South West England, its first in the region. The company signed a 25-year lease on a 24,250-square-foot detached industrial warehouse in the Westmead Industrial Estate, according to the source. The agreement includes an office and up to 70 parking spaces. The building was previously occupied by Banner Managed Communication, which relocated in 2012.

The lease was executed by the Bristol, South West England, office of Colliers International, a global commercial real estate company. The duration, which includes breaks, reflects the lack of warehouse space available for rent, said Tom Watkins, a broker in the office. “The 25-year lease secures the property for as long as possible for the new tenant at a time when there is a real shortage of stock in the Swindon area.”

The Westmead Industrial Estate is experiencing high demand due to its location on the west side of town and proximity to highways and the town center, Watkins said.

UK Storage celebrated its 10th anniversary and 10,000th self-storage customer last summer. The company now has 17 employees and opened two new facilities last year.

Founded in 2005 in Bridgwater, Somerset, England, UK Storage has properties in Bristol, Chard, Gloucester, Plymouth, Redruth and Taunton. In addition to traditional storage, all of the company’s facilities offer document storage. The Bridgwater property also provides office space for rent.
