McCarthy's Storage World is expanding its self-storage facility in Harrogate, England. The £1m addition will be developed behind the existing property on Ripon Road, which opened in 2012.

The new building will comprise an initial 9,000 square feet of storage space, increasing the facility’s size by 50 percent, according to the source. The expansion is expected to be complete in May and will create three new jobs.

"The current space has been operating at almost 100 percent capacity for some time now,” said Mike McCarthy, managing director. “We've seen great demand from individuals looking to clear space at home or seeking temporary storage while they move home, but we've also seen a dramatic increase in business customers."

Founded in 1970, McCarthy’s is a family-owned removals and storage business. In addition to its Harrogate property, the company operates facilities in Leeds and Wakefield, England.
