‘Comic Book Men’ Star Robert Bruce Found Dead in New Jersey Self-Storage Unit

Robert Bruce, who starred in Kevin Smith’s reality TV series “Comic Book Men” on AMC, was found dead in his self-storage unit on Dec. 31. His body was discovered at City Center Plaza Professional Records Storage Facility in Red Bank, New Jersey, by a family friend who went to check on the 62-year-old after he had not been seen or heard from in several days, according to a source.

Officers arrived at the storage facility on Water Street around 6:30 p.m. No cause of death has been released. Though foul play isn’t suspected, the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating the incident.

It’s unclear how long Bruce’s body was in the storage unit, which he reportedly used as an office. Family members became concerned when he fell out of contact and they suspected he might be living in the unit, a source reported.

Bruce was a well-known collectibles expert prior to starring in “Comic Book Men,” which ran from 2012 to 2018 and was set in Smith’s Red Bank comic-book store, Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash. Bruce appeared in 34 episodes and also received a consulting-producer credit for 82 episodes, according to a source.
