A deadly storm that swept through Iowa last week destroyed homes, businesses, churches and farms, and left thousands without power. The Aug. 10 disaster is called a derecho, a severe windstorm that can cause hurricane-force winds up to 100 miles per hour as well as heavy rains and tornadoes. The event was a stark reminder that calamities beyond the coronavirus are very real and everyone, including self-storage operators, must be prepared.
